Plumbing Planning in Sheridan

Independent plumbing planning and provider-matching information for Sheridan, near Carmel, Indiana.

A Monon rail town where pipe history is hard to trace

Sheridan began as 'Millwood' when Egbert Higbee platted the town in 1866 near the state road, and its industrial cluster grew up along the Monon Railroad after natural gas was discovered on West 3rd Street in 1888. A 1913 fire destroyed the town hall and most of Sheridan's early records, so unlike some Hamilton County neighbors, there is no clean paper trail for when many older homes near downtown got indoor plumbing — a plumber has to read the house itself.

A small, stable town with an aging supply base

At 3,106 residents as of the 2020 census, Sheridan has grown much more slowly than Carmel's other neighbors, and its housing stock skews older near the historic Main Street core — worth factoring in when a homeowner calls about pressure or a slow drain that turns out to be a supply-line material issue rather than a single fixture problem.
